About the track

Autódromo José Carlos Pace, known as Interlagos, is one of the most exciting tracks on the F1 calendar, present since 1973. As one of the few anti-clockwise circuits, it offers a unique challenge with large elevation changes and a short lap that encourages on-track battles. The capricious weather of Sao Paulo - sudden downpours can turn a race into a dramatic lottery - has provided some of the most memorable moments in F1 history. This is where Ayrton Senna won in front of his ecstatic home fans, and Lewis Hamilton clinched his first World Championship in 2008 at the last corner of the last lap. The Juncao corner and the climb to the finish on the start/finish straight are iconic locations of this legendary venue.
