Biography
Franco Colapinto is an Argentine racing driver who unexpectedly replaced Logan Sargeant at Williams mid-way through the 2024 season and immediately impressed with his speed and composure, scoring points in Azerbaijan and Austin. As the first Argentine in Formula 1 in decades, he sparked enormous excitement among fans across South America, putting Argentina back on the F1 map. In the 2025 season he initially served as Alpine's reserve driver before replacing Jack Doohan from the Miami Grand Prix, racing until the end of the season. For the 2026 season he earned a full-time seat alongside Pierre Gasly. Colapinto has shown he can extract the maximum from a car and compete with experienced rivals. His presence on the grid is a landmark moment for Argentine motorsport and a return to the tradition of Fangio and Reutemann.
